Lanny Sommese, AIGA Philadelphia 2010 Fellow
Thursday, June 10th, marked AIGA Philadelphia's seventh presentation of its prestigious Fellow Award. AIGA Philadelphia's President, Maribeth Kradel-Wietzel,
presented Lanny Sommese with the 2010 Fellow Award at the World Cafe Live venue in West Philadelphia. The
Fellow Award Program recognizes mature designers who have made a significant contribution to raising the
standards of excellence in practice and conduct within their local or regional design community, as well as in their local AIGA chapter. Sommese was presented the award in front of friends, family, admirers, former students and colleagues.

Thursday, May 6th marked AIGA Philadelphia's 12th (!) Feedback event. Held this year at Moore College of Art. Feedback is an annual portfolio review for seniors graduating from Philadelphia's local universities in the field of graphic design, digital media, advertising and many more visual communication majors.

Design Legend Hans Alleman Honored at The University of the Arts
On Friday, October 17th, over 200 designers, professors, and students gathered at the C. Levitt Auditorium at The University of the Arts to witness a conversation between two design legends: Hans Allemann and Joel Katz. The event, co-sponsored by The University of the Arts, Office of Alumni Relations, and AIGA Philadelphia, was held to honor Allemann, who recently retired from The University of the Arts, and is soon returning to his native Switzerland.

AIGA Philadelphia 2009 Fellow Award Ceremony
On the evening of May 28th 2009 AIGA Philadelphia to bestowed their highest honor of the 2009 Fellow award to this years recipient Ms. Laurie Churchman.
The ceremony brought a great coming together of many artists, peers, colleagues, family and friends, on her behalf and in the celebration of all she has done for design.

Designers Accord Philadelphia Town Hall Meeting
On Thursday, April 23rd the Designers Accord held their first Philadelphia Town Hall meeting. The event hosted upward of 50 attendees, and 8 presenters, in the Bresslergroup panoramic studios, 2400 Market street.
After light fare, and networking Mike Flanagan (Director of Marketing, Bresslergroup) opened the event with a clip from The Story of Stuff, a straight-forward delivery on the design of consumer-culture in the United States. The short film set the tone, and segued into the first of 8 five minute presentations, designed to engage the audience with thought-provoking questions around sustainability in all mediums of design.

Michael Lebowitz Discusses Big Spaceship’s Voyages into Uncharted Territories
You can call Michael Lebowitz almost anything you like. But whatever you do, don’t call him a web designer. Speaking before a large audience at Moore College of Art & Design, Lebowitz, the founder of Brooklyn-based Big Spaceship, set the record straight that his agency is more than just a “web design shop”—they’re a “digital creative agency”. Why all the fuss over a few words? For Lebowitz, this title better reflects the type of work that has come to define Big Spaceship: unconventional and experience-driven.
